FDA GIVES THE GREEN LIGHT FOR NEW PSORIASIS TREATMENT

Medicis Pharmaceuticals Inc. Tuesday announced that the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved its new drug application for VANOS, used for the treatment of plaque-type psoriasis.
According to the Scottsdale-based company's announcement, VANOS is a patented corticosteroid formula that when put in the form of a cream helps to relieve plaque-type psoriasis, a skin disorder.
The market for this type of treatment is approximately $329 million annually, officials said.
Medicis anticipates launching VANOS to dermatologists in early April.
VANOS is manufactured by Patheon Inc. in Canada.
